The 1960s was a huge time for bold, colourful, printed fabrics. It was an era for revival for many crafts, including textile making. Examples of Batik, hand dyed fabrics and weave all bringing practitioners new ideas to these crafts. This all fitted in with the late 1960s idea that making a limited number of items by hand was better than commercial overproduction.
From fashion to furnishings, colourful, block printed patterns were the style in the 60s from start to finish and were seen everywhere.

My illustrations using 1960s prints
After being inspired by the above 1960s fabrics, I created a series of illustrations using these patterns. I first drew a silhouette and then traced it off 6 different times, I used the above patterns to collage 1960s style clothing onto these silhouettes.
